Literary giant Premchand’s stories are the stories of the largest and most widespread section of the Indian society. He has written novels, short stories, plays, commentaries, essays, editorials and memoirs, although he was primarily a fiction writer. He has written 15 novels, more than 300 short stories, 3 plays, 10 translations, 7 children’s books and editorials, lectures, prefaces, letters etc that run into thousands of pages. His novels, Godaan and Gaban, and his short stories, Shatranj ke Khilaadi , Kafan, etc. were made into films. Sevasadan, Premaashram, Rangbhumi, Karmabhumi, Nirmala etc. are his other prominent works.
