Krishn Chander was a celebrated Urdu fiction writer. He was awarded the Padmabhushan by the Government of India in the year 1969 for his commendable contribution in the fields of literature and education. His other famous works include, Ek Gadhe ki Aatmakatha, Ek Gadha Nefa Mein, Ek Gadhe ki Waapsi, Ek Violin Samundar ke Kinaare, Toofan ki Kaliyaan, Carnival, Yaadon ke Chinaar, Mitti ke Sanam, Raet ka Mahal, Kagaz ki Naav, Dil Daulat aur Duniya, Pyaasi Dharti ke Pyaase Log and Jamun ka Ped. His works have been translated into almost all Indian languages.
