RAJENDER SINGH BEDI

Rajinder Singh Bedi was a successful Hindi and Urdu novelist, director, screenwriter and playwright. He was born on 1 September 1915 at Siyalkot, in the Punjab of British India. He was an Urdu writer of the Progressive Indian Writers' Association, and later became a Hindi film director, screenwriter and dialogue writer. He is known as the writer of the screenplay and dialogues for Hrishikesh Mukherjee's films, Abhimaan, Anupma and Satyakaam and Bimal Roy's Madhumati. Ek Chadar Maili Si is one of his most well-known works and was made into a film by the same name.
