Chandrakanta was a prominent Hindi author, born on 3 September 1938 in Srinagar. Her father was Prof. Ramchandra Pandit, who was an English teacher. Watching her father run an entire campaign for safeguarding Hindi language in Kashmir, she developed a profound respect for the national language and her writing is like a tribute to its legacy.
